Markwins Takeover of Physicians Formula Delayed

Not so fast. Markwins International Corporation has delayed its acquisition of Physicians Formula Holdings, Inc.


Back on Nov. 8, stockholders of Physicians Formula approved the acquisition ofthe company by Markwins. The deal was supposed to close by Nov. 13, but today Markwins pushed the closing back to mid-December.


Physicians Formula operates in the mass market prestige, or “masstige,” market. Under the Physicians Formula brand name, created in 1937, the company develops, markets and distributes premium-priced products for the mass market channel. The company maintains that it addresses skin imperfections through a problem-solving approach, rather than focusing on changing fashion trends. Currently, our products are sold in over 25,000 stores including those operated by Wal-Mart, Target, CVS and Rite Aid.


Based in City of Industry, CA, Markwins International Corporation is a global leader in color cosmetics, cosmetic accessories and beauty collections. Founded by Eric Chen, its chief executive officer, nearly 30 years ago, the privately-held company is recognized as a top 20 purveyor in the global cosmetic industry.
