Massage Envy Spa ill open its first clinic in New York City early next year. Massage Envy Spa franchisee John N. Vatistas has signed a lease in the Stuyvesant /Gramercy community. The new Massage Envy Spa location will include 3,400 square feet at 312 East 23rd Street, between 1st and 2nd Avenue. This will bring the total number of operating clinics in New York to 29. A Staten Island native, Vatistas, who built his real estate brokerage company from the ground up in 2005 and became the world's largest Sotheby's International Realty franchisee, recently joined Massage Envy Spa as a multi-unit franchisee. In addition to the New York City clinic, he has committed to developing five additional clinics in Massachusetts. “We've been looking to expand into New York City for quite some time — and finally found the right location and the right franchisee to make it happen,” said Lori Merrall, Massage Envy Spa's national director of franchise sales. “We believe New York City residents, as well as commuters, will welcome us with open arms and appreciate the services we offer to help them maintain a balanced lifestyle focused on wellness.” Today, there are nearly 900 locations operating in 48 states, making Massage Envy Spa the largest system of franchised massage clinics in the industry The average unit volume for a Massage Envy is $1.3 million, according to the company.
