Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the SCC Looks at Modern African Beauty

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists' September Tech Talk is entitled, “A Journey into Modern African Beauty Care: Perspectives for Successful Innovation.” The online presentation is September 8, 12-1pm EST.

The speaker is Ike Ononye PhD. He is chief executive officer at Glikon Consulting. The company specializes in GMP product development, consumer research, African business initiatives, beauty care products, analytical chemistry and quality control. Prior to Glikon, Ononye was research leader-skin care technology development at Kao USA. Before that, he was with Procter & Gamble for more than 20 years.

He is also an adjunct assistant professor of chemistry at UC Blue Ash College, Cincinnati.

Ononye notes that acient civilivation and, invariably, the use of cometics, began in Africa. With the advent of science and tecnology in the West, the manufacture and use of synthetic beauty products is common practice. However, in recent years, Africa has started to gain the attention of global beauty care providers. Ononye will detail some key R&D perspectives for successful innovation in modern African beauty care.
