US Patent No. 8,985,124 B2; Pilaris Labs LLC, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, has patented a method for treating hair loss by reducing effects of 5α-dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in a subject undergoing treatment for hair loss. The method is comprised of providing a composition consisting of caffeine, saw palmetto berry derivative, epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) derivative, D1 water, sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate; cocamidopropyl betaine; cocamide DEA; dimethiconol dodecylbenzensulfonate; TEA dodecylbenzensulfonate; glycol distearate; sodium chloride; fragrance; hydrolyzed wheat protein; guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride; panthenol; methylchloroisothiazolinone; methylisothiazolinone and citric acid. After moistening the scalp and hair of the subject the composition is massaged into the scalp and hair, and left on for a period of time before rinsing off.
