US Patent No. 8,080,258 B2; Svenska Miljobolaget SVV AB, Stockholm, has patented a method of inhibiting the growth of or killing bacterial microorganisms. It is comprised of treating the bacterial microorganisms that are Gram-positive or Gram-negative bacteria with an effective amount of an antibacterial agent which is a protein fraction isolated from dissociated plant chromatin. The protein fraction has an apparent molecular weight between 10 and 20 kilodaltons.
