According to statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, cosmetic procedures saw a 5% increase in 2011.One of the top five cosmetic procedures included eyelid surgery totaling 196,000 procedures for the year.
Joseph Eviatar, M.D., oculofacial plastic surgeon and surgical director of Chelsea Eye & Cosmetic Surgery Associates in NYC, has kicked off 2012 with some new advances in eyelid rejuvenation including Belotero and the Ultherapy Brow Lift.

Eviatar is one of the first physician’s to use Belotero, the latest dermal filler from the UK, which has recently been approved for use in the US. Belotero is a unique, hyaluronic acid, dermal filler that seamlessly integrates with the skin and adapts to facial contours and plumps and adds volume to the face, according to the company.Because Belotero is made of the same volumizing and moisturizing component of the skin, Eviatar has found it to be a natural fit for under-eye rejuvenation to correct hollows and dark circles.Additionally, Belotero has a thinner consistency, which allows the doctor to gently, and instantly fill the finest of lines. One treatment of Belotero was shown in clinical studies to last from 9 to 12 months.

A good candidate for Belotero and the Ultherapy Brow Lift is someone between the ages of 40 and 65 with skin that has “relaxed” to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm.

“If done by a surgeon specializing in cosmetic eye procedures, these treatments can come very close to duplicating the results of surgery. They have proven to be an exciting alternative for those who are not ready for surgery or want to be instantly rejuvenated and refreshed,” said Eviatar.
