Happi.com offers a cheat sheet on the latest trends and events.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is in full swing in New York, showcasing the hottest looks for Spring/Summer 2015. Beauty brands are hard at work at the shows, creating hair, makeup and nail looks for the models; complementing designers’ visions of the clothing and completing the styles!

Here’s a roundup of beauty news straight from the tents:

  • OPI kicked off Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week with BCBG Max Azria at Lincoln Center. Lead nail artist Miss Pop painted models' fingers and toes with one coat of OPI Base Coat followed by two coats of OPI's bestselling soft pink Bubble Bath. She finished the nail with one coat of OPI Top Coat. This sheer, neutral look complemented the collection's bohemian silhouettes, muted pastel floral pieces and earthy tones.

  • CND showcased a dreamy water-inspired nail design at the Opening Ceremony’s Spring/Summer 2015 Fashion Show at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. “When we heard Opening Ceremony’s creative vision for this collection, we were ecstatic,” said CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “The colors and concepts fall perfectly in line with CND’s Spring 2015 trend story, which is all about unplugging from today’s digital world and embracing the simpler things. Sun-bleached tones and dreamy watercolor paintings emerge from a heightened sensitivity to the perfection of nature. Nails are easy and softly squared – as wearable and simple as a barefoot stroll through the grass.”

  • Redken Creative Consultant Guido brought an easy, sophisticated feeling to the runway at Victoria Beckham’s Spring/Summer 2015 show. Using only one key product, Redken’s new Wind Blown 05 dry finishing spray, Guido created the perfect nonchalant, natural hairstyle to complement Victoria’s modern collection. “Victoria’s style is so modern and beautiful that I didn’t want to bring too much attention to the hair, and this natural look felt the most modern for this collection. There was a time when a blowout would have been considered a luxury, and it is very luxurious, but that kind of look on the runway can seem dated. The style at Victoria Beckham is very easy and undone, which created a more modern feeling. I let the hair dry naturally, created a messy side part with my fingers, and then used Redken’s new Wind Blown 05 dry finishing spray to texturize and lift the roots a bit. I also used a wide-barrel curling iron, taking random clumps of hair and bending them around the iron to add body where needed,” said Guido for Redken.

  • Nars—which is celebrating its 20th anniversary created the look for the Thakoon SS ‘15 runway show. According to lead artist Diane Kendall, the inspiration for the collection is the artist Gauguin. She said, “Thakoon wanted the girls to appear as if they were coming out of water, so the beauty look is all about the gloss on the eyelid and brushed up into the brow. Less is more.”

  • A fusion of Japanese aesthetic meshed with Peruvian craft work inspired the Spring/Summer 2015 collection for Tibi by designer Amy Smilovic. To correspond with a collection featuring rich details such as quilted Fuji silks, raw edges and touches of watery colors, Aveda Guest Artist Frank Rizzieri fashioned a modern style with edge and sophistication. Hair was styled with bungee elastics to keep hair off the face, while the addition of the ridges midway down the hair added an element of interest, setting the look.

  • Lead makeup artist T. Cooper used Mirabella Beauty to create a striking look for the CuteCircuit runway show at Lincoln Center. The runway show's makeup look was inspired by the idea of a sun-kissed girl at the beach who quickly transitions for a fabulous party later that night. She leaves her makeup natural with a pop of color on the eyes—a beautiful ocean-inspired teal blue hue. Eyeshadow was applied wet as a thick liner. Models with deeper complexions were lined with Eye Colour in Haute, and those with fairer skin were lined with a mix of Aquamarine and Azure. Brows were kept natural and black mascara completed the eyes.
