NYSCC's July 29 Golf Outing To be Held on Two Courses

• The New York Chapter of the SCC will hold its 18th annual golf outing Friday, July 29 at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Hamburg, NJ. This year, NYSCC has made two courses available for the first 288 golfers.
The cost is $180 per person, which includes 18 holes with carts, lunch, cocktail hour, dinner, awards, prizes and gifts. Dinner only tickets are also available.
The deadline to register is July 1. Non-refundable payments should be sent to Debbie McCarthy, 28 Joyce St., Toms River, NJ 08753 or register online by credit card at www.nyscc.org.

A Cosmetic Chemist’s GuideTo Product Development
• The Society of Cosmetic Chemists will hold a course called the “Cosmetic Chemist’s Guide to Product Development,” July 14 at the Sheraton Newark Airport Hotel, Newark, NJ.
This course—which will cover the basic process of generating ideas for new cosmetics, developing them into functional products, and scaling them up to be sold commercially—would be useful for cosmetic formulators, quality control scientists, regulatory scientists, marketing and product development professionals and others who are interested in the process of taking an idea from a brainstorm session to a store shelf.
The instructor is Perry Romanowski, vice president of Brains Publishing, which specializes in the creation of information products including websites, traditional books, ebooks, audio and video focusing on science and its application to the real world.
The cost of the course is $350 for SCC members, $475 for non-members and $200 for students before June 30, or $400, $525 and $225, respectively, after that date.

SCC Journal OpensDigital Archive
• The Society of Cosmetic Chemists has opened a digital archive, making all SCC Journal issues going back to the very first issue digitized and fully searchable.
While most of the archive is available to the public, only members can access issues from 2008 forward. To access the member-only issues, users will need to input a user name (first initial and last name all lower case) and password (SCC member identification number which is found on the SCC membership card).

Workshop on Skin AgingAnd Inflammation
• The New York Chapter of the SCC will hold a workshop on “Skin Aging and Inflammation—Does One Condition Lead to Another,” Aug. 19 at Farleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ.
This all-day course is designed to go through the major changes occurring in the different layers of the skin when it ages, the types of skin inflammatory reactions, and the possible link between the two. The agenda includes a look a basic structure and properties of skin layers, major structural and biochemical changes occurring with skin aging, testing methodologies, advanced glycation as well as clock genes and p53 and other markers. The instructor is Nava Dayan, Ph.D.
The cost is $25 for members and $150 for non-members.
