In recognition of Skin Cancer Awareness Month this month, Olay and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) will host the second annual “Bring a Buddy” skin cancer screening, encouraging Americans to protect themselves, friends and family. More than 150 dermatologic surgeons nationwide have volunteered to provide free skin cancer screenings during May and June so women may bring their “buddies” with them for a joint lesson in skin cancer detection and prevention.

“Everyone should undergo annual screenings, whether or not they have a worrisome skin lesion or a family history of skin cancer,” said Gary Monheit, M.D., ASDS president, associate professor of dermatology, University of Birmingham, Birmingham Medical Center. “Skin cancer screenings are an essential part of skin cancer detection. A dermatologic surgeon can identify skin cancer even if it’s in its earliest stages which can lead to early treatment and potentially can save a life.”
