More info: www.qosmedix.com Printpack To Close Seal-It Shrink Label Plant Printpack, a major manufacturer of flexible packaging products, will close its plant in Farmingdale, NY, at the end of the month. The Farmingdale facility, acquired by Printpack in 2006, was formerly Seal-It Inc. According to documents filed with the New York State Department of Labor, the plant employed 225 people as of June 2009, when layoffs began. Of the 119 remaining employees in Farmingdale, 10 will continue to work for Printpack elsewhere, and 109 will be laid off, according to the state filings. Some associates are being transferred to other company operations. Founded in 1956, Printpack has annual sales of $1.3 billion and employs 4,400 people in 25 plants in the U.S., Mexico and England. Its namesake, Osias Berk, established O.Berk in Newark, NJ in 1910. In 1925, the company was purchased by Isaac Goldstein, great grandfather of O.Berk’s current chairman and chief executive officer, Marc M. Gaelen.
