The ninth edition of the PCHi Technology Summit concluded successfully after two days of expert-led discussion and cutting-edge insights. The event reaffirmed its role as a premier platform for innovation and collaboration in the personal care and cosmetics industry, officials said.

Held August 13–14 at Le Méridien Shanghai, the Summit drew over 2,000 professionals from across the global supply chain, uniting R&D leaders, regulatory experts and brand innovators in a shared pursuit of industry advancement.

Scientific Advances and Market Directions

Curated by the PCHi Cosmetics Science & Technology Innovation Committee (CSTIC), the 2025 agenda highlighted some of the most significant developments in ingredient and formulation science. This year’s program featured several new sessions that explored advanced ingredient development, emerging global perspectives on traditional Chinese medicine, and the application of colloid and interface chemistry in color cosmetics. These additions reflect PCHi’s continued commitment to keeping pace with the latest R&D directions and helping professionals stay informed about where the industry is headed.

Among the highlights was a keynote by Yan Jiangying, chairperson of the China Association of Fragrance, Flavor and Cosmetic Industries (CAFFCI), who emphasized the growing focus on technological innovation in cosmetics. She noted how increased investment in this area is fueling the rise of domestic brands and driving industry transformation. With advances in AI, biotechnology and new materials, she envisioned a future where cosmetics will break traditional boundaries—becoming more precise and personalized, and integral to health.

At the event, leading cosmetics ingredients players like Ashland, Evonik, and Symrise launched major new products, demonstrating the sector’s vitality and cementing PCHi’s position as a premier global launchpad.
