Perry Ellis International has entered into a license agreement with Falic Fashion Group to create, manufacture and distribute men’s and women’s fragrances under the Original Penguin by Munsingwear brand.

The agreement encompasses men’s and women’s fragrances for distribution in the Americas, Europe, India and the Middle East. The men’s fragrance will launch in early 2011 in the U.S. and the UK. The women’s fragrance will follow shortly thereafter, according to Perry Ellis.

The scents will also be sold at the 23 Original Penguin stores located in the U.S. and internationally. “We are very excited about the opportunity to extend the Original Penguin by Munsingwear brand to fragrances, an area where we believe Falic Group can create new products to attract a younger consumer and increase the lifestyle attraction of the brand,” commented Oscar Feldenkreis, president and chief operating officer of Perry Ellis International.

Originally an underwear and military supply company, Minneapolis-based Munsingwear is best known for its branded golf shirt, which hit the American marketplace in 1955.
