DSM Appoints Eric Lippay Senior Marketing Manager



Eric Lippay

DSM: appointed Eric Lippay senior marketing manager-NBD, North America in its personal care group. In this role, he will be responsible for new business development with a focus on marketing their range of innovative Pentapharm actives. Lippay comes to DSM with extensive experience in product development and marketing of active ingredients for the fabric and household and personal care industries.

The HallStar Company: appointed James R. Conaty, Robert B. Covalt, and James N. Hallene to its board of directors. Conaty served as president of global adhesives at HB Fuller. He led a workforce of more than 2,600 employees in 38 countries, with revenues of more than $1 billion.

Covalt also founded Sovereign Specialty Chemicals in 1994 and served as chairman, president and chief executive officer. At the time of the sale to Henkel in 2004, Sovereign was the largest privately owned adhesives company in the U.S. and one of the largest in the world, with revenues of approximately $400 million. Prior to founding Sovereign, Covalt spent 36 years with Morton Chemical, 11 years as president of the specialty chemical arm of Morton International. He retired in 1993.

Hallene founded Capital Concepts Holdings, LLC, a Chicago-based private equity investment firm, in 1998 and currently serves as its principal. He is also a partner with CapX Partners, an equipment-leasing fund. Before Capital Concepts, Jim co-founded and later sold MaxMiles, a data-consolidation company.

Trilogy Fragrances Inc.:
expanded its fragrance creative department with the addition of perfumer Shere Rolo. She comes to Trilogy Fragrances after a successful career at International Flavors and Fragrances where she created, developed and managed winning formulations for a number of leading personal care and household product companies.

Women in Flavor & Fragrance Commerce (WFFC):
announced the 2010 general board of directors—Joanne Kennedy, president (Fona International); Celine Roche, vice president (Mane USA);Helen Feygin, secretary (Intuiscent LLC) and Anne Marie Api, treasurer (RIFM). The new board members include: Dolores Avezzano (Cargill Flavor Systems); Kathryn Bardsley (International Flavors & Fragrances); Marion Brooks (Citrus & Allied Essences); Evelyn Gonzalez (Virginia Dare); Pat Halle (Ungerer & Co.); Pia Henzi (MCI Miritz Citrus Ingredients); Joan Huang(Agilex Flavors & Fragrance Inc.); Amy Marks-McGee (Trendincite LLC); Nancy Poulos (Treatt USA) and Alpa Roman (Flavor & Fragrance Specialties).

McBride Research Laboratory, Inc.:
appointed Cornell McBride, Jr. president of the company, which was founded by his father, Cornell McBride, Sr. McBride, Jr. has served the company for 18 years, most recently as general manager where led the day-to-day operations and strategic direction for the company.

Achille E. Riviello
Arylessence, Inc.:
appointed Achille E. Riviello as a perfumer. According to the company, he will play a major role in fragrance creation, perfume chemistry and application science. An expert in home care fragrances and technology-driven perfume delivery systems, Riviello formerly held senior positions with Drom and Firmenich.

The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G):
named Linda Clement-Holmes senior vice president-global diversity and global business services. Clement-Holmes, a 27-year P&G veteran, will maintain her existing global business services responsibilities and will take on new responsibilities as global diversity leader for the company.

The Estée Lauder Companies Inc.:
appointed Christopher Wood to lead its Strategic Modernization Initiative (SMI) as it moves into the next phase. Mr. Wood, who will become senior vice president, Global Strategic Modernization Initiative, has been with the company since 1993—most recently as general manager of the affiliate in Korea. In this newly created position, he will be based in New York and become a member of the company’s executive leadership team, program management team and SMI steering team.

DPT Laboratories: named Jason Vaughn as director of formulation development. He previously was vice president of operations at PharmaForm, LLC.Vaughn will oversee pre-formulation development, formulation development and commercial support activities to include raw material sourcing, API compatibility with excipients, stability of API and factors affecting stability, method development and transfer, API characterization, formulation and packaging compatibility, informal stability/formulation stress testing, antimicrobial effectiveness testing, rheology/viscosity and formulation container closure compatibility assessment.

Carol’s Daughter:
named Richard Dantas president and chief executive officer of the company. Steve Stoute, partner and lead investor in the brand, will continue to oversee strategic brand expansion and partnerships, alongside the brand’s founder, Lisa Price. Dantas was formerly president of Bliss, which was acquired by Steiner Leisure Ltd. from Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc. in December.

Wilson Fennelly
Markwins International:
welcomed Wilson Fennelly to its North American sales management team. He has served in various capacities of Markwins global expansion throughout the early part of this decade. In addition to serving as managing director of Markwins UK, supply chain support Markwins Asia, Wilson has also played a leading role in the development of the North American department and specialty store business unit.

Unilever:
appointed Tonia Lovell as its next chief legal officer and group secretary. She will replace Steve Williams when he retires later this year after 24 years of service in that role. Lovell, who since 2003 has been general counsel to the Unilever UK/Ireland business, will report directly to Chief Executive Paul Polman, and will join the Unilever executive board. In addition to providing counsel to the Unilever boards and the Unilever CEO, she will head up the 175-strong legal network across the Unilever business.

Chemsil Silicones, Inc.:
welcomed Axiom Ingredients to its expanding distributor network. Michael DeSantis, owner of Axiom Ingredients, will represent the complete line of Chemsil specialty silicone products in the Northeastern region of the U.S. DeSantis brings more than 15 years of expertise in the personal care and cosmetics industries as well as solid background in global sales and business.


Grooming Lounge: John Mulgrew is in charge of marketing the Grooming Lounge products, cultivating relationships with a broader customer base and initiating new relationships with manufacturers, according to the company. Mulgrew is a former president of American Crew.

Shiseido Cosmetics America: Named Rita Mangan as senior vice presidentin sales, education and retail strategies for Shiseido CosmeticsAmerica. In her new role, she will be responsible for setting salesstrategy, sales execution and the training and education for theShiseido and Clé de Peau Beauté brands within all distributionchannels in the U.S. Most recently Mangan held the position of seniorVP, sales, marketing and education, North America at Bobbi BrownCosmetics, a division of the Estée Lauder Companies. Previously, she had a 23-year career at Macy’s Merchandising Group and Macy’s Eastwhere she held several senior management positions within theCosmetics & Fragrance Division.

International Flavors & Fragrances Inc.:
announced that its currentnon-executive chairman, Douglas D. Tough, will assume the role ofchairman and chief executive officer. Tough joined the Board of IFF inOctober 2008. He has been CEO of Australia-based Ansell Limited for nearly six years. Prior to Ansell, he had a 17-year career withCadbury Schweppes Plc where he held a variety of senior positionsoverseeing consumer products division both in the U.S. and abroad.

Kemin Health:
promoted Jeff Flora to president.In this role, Flora is responsible for overseeing the global operations of Kemin Health. He joined the company in 2004 as the vice president of finance.Prior to joining Kemin Health, Flora served as a corporate controller for Tone Brothers, Inc.
Flora began his career with the General Electric Company through the Financial Management Program. Upon completion, he joined GE’s Corporate Audit Staff where he worked on a series of global assignments involving operational and financal audits.•
