Personnel Changes At Active Concepts Active Concepts LLC and Active Micro Technologies LLC: announced a number of new employees, as it continues to expand to meet growing demand. In research and development, Dale Hanna is the current microbiologist for Active Concepts and is a new addition to the R&D team. He previously worked as an admissions counselor and student researcher before joining Active Concepts. Crystal Eckard is a 2009 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she majored in psychology and minored in business. She began working in quality control in 2009 and is Active Concepts’ quality control chemist. Active Concepts welcomed Katherine Girling as vice president of sales. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering before relocating to Europe, where she gained more than 10 years of combined technical, sales and marketing experience. She is now based in the Greater New York City metro area and manages North American sales activities for Active Concept’s family of companies, which includes Active Micro Technologies and Arbor Organic Technologies. Christina Hernandez is the latest addition to the sales team in her role as West Coast account manager, where she is responsible for key accounts and business development. She has more than 10 years of experience in the personal care industry, having previously held positions with PDA Group, St. Tropez and Creation’s Garden. Sally Hatcher began her technical marketing position with Active Concepts in 2010. In her new role in the sales team, she currently manages the Southeast customer accounts in addition to continuing to perform technical marketing duties. Gabrielle Damjanovic was recently hired as Midwest account manager. She is a Minneapolis native with a degree in microbiology and several years of experience in formulation at Aveda, L’Oréal and the Thymes. John Batounis joined the Active Concepts team in 2010 and was recently promoted from customer service to his new position of sales coordinator at the firm’s Lincolnton, NC location. He manages all in-house sales transactions primarily for the Midwest and Southeast territories. Kathleen Norris is the newest addition to the technical marketing team. She has a degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and several years experience in market research and advertising. Her love for marketing and cosmetics was finally married when she began working with Active Concepts, LLC in the summer of 2011. Joshua Smith joined the customer service team at Active Concepts in June 2011 and was recently promoted to manager of the group. He has seven years of experience in the customer service field. Monica Beltran joined Active Micro Technologies, LLC (AMT) in May of 2011. Her current role with AMT is to provide microbiological technical support for the existing product line, as well as products in the developmental pipeline. After obtaining her degree, she gained valuable practical experience as a microbiology analyst and researcher at the Archivo General de la Nacion in Bogota, before relocating to the US and joining AMT. Kemin: expanded its personal care division with the addition of a global accounts manager and formulation chemist. Sheila Dana joined Kemin as global accounts manager where she is responsible for developing new business relationships and global sales. She first joined Kemin in 2001 in research and product development working with protease inhibitors, fermentation and molecular biology. She later helped expand the firm’s global business as a technical service manager for the health division. Vandana Srivastava joined Kemin as a formulation chemist where she will be responsible for developing prototypes and optimizing formulations using Kemin’s personal care ingredients. She will also provide customer laboratory support for Kemin’s customers. Srivastava has held a number of chemist positions within the cosmetic industry, most recently as a research and development manager at Weeks and Leo. TRI-K Industries: added Doug Krysiak as its new product business manager. He is part of the expanding management team at TRI-K, and will play an important role in developing and executing business and product strategies, and managing key product lines on a domestic and global level, according to the company. Krysiak has more than 10 years of industry experience with Dow Corning Corporation. TRI-K Industries also promoted John Carratura to the role of inside sales account manager. He has been with TRI-K Industries for 14 years. For the past several years, he was a member of the research and development team, and served as senior technical information specialist. In his new role, Carratura will be working closely with the territory sales account management team. Glenn Corporation: appointed Marcie Johnson to its growing technical sales force as its Southwest US account manager. She will be responsible for covering the personal care market in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. Johnson brings with her more than a decade of industry experience to her role at Glenn Corp. Prior to this appointment, she was with Sensory Effects Flavor Systems, Purac and Brenntag Southwest Inc. Black Radiance: appointed Robyn Turner as its newest brand manager. In this position, Turner’s key responsibilities will include portfolio management, product development, promotional program development, in-store merchandising, online programs and marketing financials to extend Black Radiance’s leadership in ethnic cosmetics. Turner joined Black Radiance from Spa-Ritual/Orly International, Inc., where she has served as product development and R&D manager since 2009. Prior to that, she held positions at D.L. & Company & Modern Alchemy, DayNa Decker Environments and Mojo Cosmetics. CVS Caremark: named Mark S. Cosby as president of CVS/pharmacy. He most recently served as Macy’s president of stores, where he was responsible for all Macy’s store operations and support functions nationwide. Earlier in his career, Cosby was president of full-line stores for Sears Roebuck & Co., chief operations officer of KFC, and chief development officer of Yum! Brands. Cosby began his career as a financial analyst for General Foods. DKSH:appointed Cori Diaz as global head key client management within the performance materials business unit. In this newly created global function, Diaz’s focus is on strategic business and relationship development with current and potential key clients. She brings more than 20 years of experience in the specialty chemicals industry. Before joining DKSH, Diaz worked for Clariant. L’Oréal: appointed Geoff Skinsgley, formerly managing director of human resources for Paris-based L’Oréal, to the new position of managing director of the Africa and Middle East zone. Skinsgley has been with L’Oréal since 1986, and has served as head of several of the group’s businesses and countries, including the UK, India and the Netherlands. Jerome Tixier will succeed Skinsgley as managing director, human resources. Tixier, who has been with L’Oréal since 1980, has held a variety of roles and was most recently adviser to the chairman, charged with linking with L’Oréal’s board on human resource and governance issues. Tixier will retain this role when he takes on his new human resources position. Sea-Land Chemical Company: hired Mauricio Galvez as an account manager for Sea-Land Chemical Canada Ltd. He is a past chairman of STLE Toronto, and has 14 years of experience in the chemical industry. Research Institute for Fragrance Materials: named Christen Sachse-Vasquez director, technical information and services. She will manage RIFM’s technical information, oversee the RIFM database and serve as REACH liaison. Vasquez returns to RIFM after having served as manager, global fragrance safety and regulatory affairs at Takasago International Corp. (USA). She first joined RIFM in 2000.
