A Care2 petition is calling for a boycott of Bircbox until it agrees to contract only with companies that are cruelty-free.  As this story posted on Happi.com, the petition had gathered more than 45,800 signatures.

“I am a diehard animal lover and started reading labels to ensure products were animal cruelty-free a few years ago,” Jess Barnett, author of the petition, told Care2. “When I signed up with Birchbox, I wasn’t aware that they contracted with companies that still test on animals.”

Barnett called Birchbox a “fantastic innovation” but said that “many of the companies [it partners] with aren’t so innovative, still using outdated and unnecessary animal testing on their products.”

Barnett, who said she wasn't satisified with the response she recieved from the cmpany, plans on delivering petition to Birchbox headquarters in New York City.
