After months of speculation, Pfizer Inc. is selling its Schick-Wilkinson Sword business, the nation’s No. 2 shaving-products company, according to an article in The Wall Street Journal. According to the article, Schick could carry a price tag of more than $1 billion, despite weak sales and its also-ran status in an industry long dominated by Gillette Co. Pfizer is auctioning Schick to concentrate on its core drug business.

Potential suitors for Schick, Milford, CT, include battery maker Rayovac Corp., Energizer Holdings Inc. and, within the household product category, Reckitt Benckiser PLC. Several buyout firms could make offers.
