P&G Launches Tide Innovation

Procter & Gamble Co. is launching Tide with a touch of Downy this week for consumers who alreadyuse Tide and Downy separately, and for those who omit fabric softener from their wash. A 100-oz.bottle retails for $6.49, and the amount of product needed is higher per load than regular Tide,executives said.

P&G expects success similar to other brands such as Swiffer, which revitalized the mop market,and Crest, which has been successful with whitening products. Tide is the top-selling detergent inthe U.S. The last significant Tide reformulation was in 1988 with Tide with Bleach.
