P&G Sends Relocation Packets to Gillette Workers

As part of its integration with Boston’s Gillette Co., Procter & Gamble Co. is sending relocation information to hundreds of employees Spokesman for the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, Raymond Buse III, noted that Procter requested about 300 of the relocation packages, which include information about Cincinnati’s culture and housing, to prospective residents. Despite this, P&G does not expect a significant number of relocations. The company advised that the $57 billion acquisition of Gillette would result in about 6,000 jobs cuts, companywide. P&G has also committed to investing hundreds of millions of dollars in Gillette’s manufacturing facility in South Boston. Mr. Ulrey said the relocation process will occurr on a staggered schedule, starting with top-level employees, then to the associate director level and so on. Procter is awaiting responses from mid-level workers now. By April 1, all Gillette employees affected by the merger will know their status with the company, and then those who do transfer will come in waves.
