The Procter & Gamble Company has realigned certain business units to streamline business operations and support the company for further growth. Several executives will retire in 2004 and 2005, including Steven N. David, chief information officer and business to business officer, Michael J. Griffith, president-global beverages, Mark D. Ketchum, president-global baby and family care, Jorge P. Montoya, president-global snacks and beverages and Latin America, and Martin J. Nuechtern, president-global hair care.P&G will also realign its business units and named four vice chairmen, effective July 1. They include: Bruce L. Byrnes, global household care, R. Kerry Clark, global health, baby and family care, Susan E. Arnold, global beauty care and Robert A. McDonald, global operations. Ms. Arnold formerly served as president of personal beauty and feminine care unit, and Robert McDonald was president of global fabric and home care.Chairman and chief executive A.G. Lafley said, “While some key managers are taking on new responsibilities, our strategies and structure are unchanged and we’re maintaining significant continuity of leadership to drive further growth.”Additionally, the company will create a new group president positions to recognize the scope of these business responsibilities effective July 1. Werner Geissler will become group president-Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa; Dimitri Panayotopoulos will become group president-global fabric care; Paul Polman will become group president-western Europe and Robert A. Steele will assume the role of group president-North America.Other new positions, effective July 1, include Ravi Chaturvedi, president-Northeast Asia, Christopher de Lapuente, president-global hair care, Jorge A. Uribe, president-Latin America and Fillippo Passerini, chief information and global services officer.
