JAPAN: A new roach spray that envelops the insect in acrylic resin is available from Tokyo-based Hakugen. According to company representatives, research showed that consumers want to get rid of roaches in the home but are squeamish about cleaning up the remains.
The product, Wiper Gokipao, envelops the insect in acrylic resin, which chokes the roach while solidifying into a cocoon-shaped shell that hides the body.
Hakugen executives said the product helped the company grab a nearly 20% share of the aerosol cockroach insecticides market, with 1.3 million cans sold since the product’s launch in March 2002.
