RIFM Requests Concentration Data on Fragrance Ingredients

Submission deadline is March 13.

Updated Jan. 27, 2026: The request for concentration data on 154 materials issued on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, has been updated to reflect the inclusion of four related materials—bringing to total number of materials to 158.

To support the continued safety evaluation of fragrance materials, Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM)  is requesting current concentration (exposure) data for the 51st RIFM Concentration Survey covering 154 fragrance ingredients.

Submission deadline is March 13, 2026. Overall survey completion is March 21, 2026.

Exposure Data & More

Exposure data are essential to RIFM’s safety assessment process and to the application of the Creme RIFM Aggregate Exposure Model, which measures real-world consumer exposure. If no exposure data are provided, RIFM cannot conduct a safety assessment, it says.

RIFM is requesting that fragrance compounders submit concentration data for currently marketed fragrance mixtures or forward the request to the appropriate colleagues within organizations who are responsible for data submission.

All data are handled confidentially and used only in aggregate exposure modeling, says RIFM.

Don’t Miss Out!

Failure to submit data may result in materials being placed on the 2026 Not Supported List and ultimately removed from the RIFM evaluation process, with potential downstream regulatory consequences.

RIFM 60th Anniversary

RIFM is ready to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2026 with a variety of events and regulatory initiatives with an annual meeting at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ on Nov. 5 and a science symposium online on Dec. 2.

Educational Track & Library

RIFM is developing SAFER (Safety Assessment of Fragrance Exposure and Risk), a certified educational track.  It expects to have published safety assessments for more than 2,500 fragrance ingredients, all reviewed by independent Expert Panel before peer-reviewed publication in the scientific literature.
