IFSCC 2010 Slate Of Keynote Lectures The keynote lineup for IFSCC 2010 “Innovation & Responsibility: Cosmetics Forever” has been announced by congress organizers. The speakers scheduled to present at the event, which will be held Sept. 20-23 in Buenos Aires, will cover a wide range of subjects from formulation strategies to nanotechnology. The keynotes start with the Sept. 20 presentation of Prof. Robert Y. Lochhead, director, The School of Polymers & High Performance Materials at the University of Southern Mississippi. His lecture is titled “Innovative formulation strategies to meet the cosmetic needs of an ecologically aware global community.” On Sept. 21, Dr. Elizabeth Jares-Erijman, director of partner group of the Max Planck Society, faculty of Exact Sciences, UBA, Argentine Research Council, Cihidecar, Conicet, Argentina, will present “Nanotechnology: The small and the beautiful.” Dr. Satoshi Amano will present “Anti-aging skin care for cutaneous photo-aging,” on Sept. 22. Amano is manager, senior research scientist, Cutaneous Biology Research Group, Skincare Product Research & Development Center, Shiseido Research Center, Japan. Prof. Gillian M. Eccleston, Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science (SIPBS), Univ. of Strathclyde, UK, will present, “The microstructure and properties of fluid and semisolid lotions and creams,” on Sept. 23. More info: www.scconline.org Course on Cosmetic Raw Materials is July 27-28 The SCC will hold “Cosmetic Raw Materials” July 27-28 at the Sheraton Newark Airport Hotel in Newark, NJ. The course will provide a complete review of fatty acids and alcohols, including nomenclature, production methods, by-products, specifications and methods. Also covered will be how to produce soap and soap emulsions. The course instructors are David Steinberg and Richard Thabit.
