SCS Holds 64th Annual Meeting in London

• The 64th Annual General Meeting of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists was held on May 24 at the Royal Society in London. Robin Parker, 2011/2012 president, chaired the meeting where members adopted the annual and financial reports and elected officers and council for 2012/13.

The officers and council are: President—Tony Gough (Innospec Ltd); Vice president—Barbara Brockway (IMCD UK Ltd); Hon. secretary—Emma Meredith (CTPA); Hon. treasurer—Judi Beerling (Organic Monitor); Members of council—Grace Abamba (QVC), Daksha Patel (Crestchem), and Andrew Postles (Laleham Healthcare Ltd).

Those continuing in office include: Immediate past president—Robin Parker (Acheson & Acheson); Members of council—Roger Barr (Consultant), Sara Bergstedt, (Smink Ltd), Ruth Borner (Lehvoss UK (Paroxite Division)); Laura Marshall (CyDen Ltd), Louise Olivier (ISP Europe), and Ian Prendergast (Stiefel, a GSK Company); Secretariat—Gem Bektas; Secretary general—Mel Cheekoory; Administrative assistant. Susan Hurst was re-elected as Hon. auditor. The honorary editor of the IJCS is Anthony Rawlings (AVR Consulting). The SCS social secretary is Sarah Gladstone, (schülke).

Dr. Tony Morton was elected as honorary member in recognition of his two terms on SCS Council 1985-1987 and 2006-2009, for his continued commitment to the Education Committee and for his involvement as one of the organizers of the Principles and Practice of Cosmetic Science Course for the past 26 years.

Parker thanked those retiring from Council, Barry Winslett and Richard Crombie and made special mention of the retiring immediate past president, Dr. Chris Flower for his dedication and hard work during the past few years.
