BANGLADESH: Shiseido’s efforts in Bangladesh to improve social status and lifestyle of rural women through the use of skin care products has been recognized as Business Call to Action (BCtA) led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This is the first time an Asian cosmetic company was recognized.

For rural Bangladesh women with relatively low income, Shiseido introduced skin care products called Les Divas, which were developed especially for locals; Shiseido also educates them on product usage. The line, which focuses on cleansing, moisturizing and UV protection, has Halal Certification since 90% of the population is Islamic.

Shiseido also provides support for improving women’s social status and lifestyle with educational activities, including workshops regarding health, hygiene and nutrition.
