Daylight savings may be limiting sunlight, but Japanese skincare brand Tatcha has released a new Brightening Collection to make skin (and spirits) lighter.
Both formulas contain vitamin C-rich Japanese plum (ume). Born out of Japanese belief that a healthy glow comes from within, Japanese plum was once used in at-home beauty rituals to help brighten skin, creating an inner glow referred to as kagayaki.
Unlike traditional ascorbic acid formulas that oxidize and don’t always penetrate effectively, Tatcha’s time-release Vitamin C stays stable and potent in the bottle and bioavailable in the skin for 12 hours. Developed by the Tatcha Institute in Tokyo to work gently yet effectively on the skin, the Brightening Collection can be used twice-daily for faster results. The formulas provide 13 times the antioxidant power of ascorbic acid, and are proven to deliver brighter, firmer skin while reducing dark circles in one week.
The Brightening Serum ($89) combines 12-hour time-release Vitamin C, firming ferulic acid and pro-glutathione antioxidant booster to create an effective, yet shelf-stable formula to visibly firm and support elasticity, brighten dull skin, and target hyperpigmentation while improving skin barrier, per the makers.
Clinical results showed that 100% saw improvement in skin brightness instantly and after one week; 100% showed firmer-looking skin in one week; 100% showed improvement in post-acne marks in one week; and 100% instantly agreed serum absorbed quickly and was gentle on skin.
The Brightening Eye Cream ($64) is powered by the same 12-hour time-release Vitamin C, with depuffing bioferments and niacinamide to reduce the look of three types of dark circles. The Brightening Eye Cream brightens, firms and lifts the eye area. The cream instantly illuminates with a soft-focus finish that layers well with makeup.
Clinical result showed that 100% saw improvement in blue, brown or black dark circles in one week; 100% showed improvement in undereye puffiness in one week; 100% showed brighter and visibly firmer eye area skin in one week; and 100% saw improvement in the elasticity of the eye area in one week.
