Mother-daughter duo uses real life experience to create Natural Bunch Kids
September 3, 2018

Natural Bunch Kids, a New York City-based hair care brand that addresses the beauty needs of kids, was co-founded by Betty Ceus and her daughter, GiGi. Now 9 years old, GiGi played a vital role as her mom built the brand. Earlier this summer, the duo unveiled their 90-Day Healthy Hair Challenge to inspire more parents and kids to embrace their hair and treat their tresses with care. We knew we had to create our own line because: Parents juggle so much, and the last thing we want them to worry about is struggling to do hair. Due to their busy lives and lack of knowledge on proper hair care, parents may skip the hair conditioning process, rush through the detangling process, overuse hair products, or use products with harsh chemicals. Children’s hair, especial those with curlier to kinkier textures, actually need a special kind of care that some adults may not know about. With this in mind, plus our experience from our own personal struggles with hair care, we were led on an entrepreneurial path. The right combination of precious ingredients and proper product use will help save hair from breakage, thinning and drying out. We basically put all of our knowledge in a line of products for parents to aid in their child’s hair health so that all parents have to do is apply and repeat. The products take it from there by increasing moisture retention and promoting growth by stimulating the scalp. Plus, our products are very easy to use, affordable, effective, and specially made with kinky and curly hair textures in mind. Our favorite products are: Mind Your Edges with Moroccan Oil edge control really packs a punch with its staying power and conditioning action which is activated by the inclusion of argan and coconut oils. For hair that needs a little extra love with some deep and nourishing conditioning, our Love My Roots Deep Conditioning Treatment with Lemongrass and Vanilla gets the job done and it smells oh so lovely! Lastly, our Treat Me Good Oil Treatment is perfect for revitalizing dry, dull and weak hair, thanks to its magically nourishing oil blend consisting of soybean oil, sweet almond oil and peppermint oil. Maegan Scarlett & Liora Dudar oVertone Haircare want to know what your brand does to help make the world a better place? We are helping children to have a deeper understand of themselves and their hair through learning how to properly care for and accept their natural hair. By helping children grow healthier, stronger natural hair, we aim to build their confidence in the process. We want to make an impact on children so that they can love themselves, unconditionally. That self-love and acceptance translates outwardly in treating others with respect, love and acceptance, which will, ultimately, impact our future in a positive way. Also, we’re making the world a better place through our Natural Bunch Kids Care Foundation, which will donate 5% of all proceeds from sales of our 90-Day Healthy Hair Challenge Bunch to youth, primarily those residing in homeless shelters throughout New York City. GiGi, has your mom always been good with your hair? It wasn’t easy for both of us at first, but now, we’re good with it because we learned how to take care of my hair together. My mom helped me to be good to my hair by not putting chemicals on it, even when I wanted my hair to be straight. She encouraged me to look at my curls as happy curls that wanted to stick together, and that straightening them would make them sad and damaged. I love my curls now. When they’re happy, I’m happy! And Betty, why is GiGi the perfect business partner? GiGi understands the process of what it means to be an entrepreneur. Since the age of six (GiGi is 9 now), she has worked by my side and witnessed me in action as I’ve turned our idea for Natural Bunch Kids into a real life, flourishing hair care line. She has my back when I have difficult times, and I have her’s too. Sometimes parents have unrealistic expectations due to differences in roles by not knowing what these roles entail. We are each other’s biggest support system! Plus, it helps to get GiGi’s fresh point on view of things from a child’s perspective, so we can better serve our young customers with an effective product line that’s relevant to them.
