While our eyes may be the window to our souls, our teeth are the ticket to looking our best, according to a national survey commissioned by Johnson & Johnson, the manufacturer of Reach Max toothbrushes. The survey revealed that 83% of Americans say their teeth are “top priority” when it comes to looking their best, rating teeth over hair, eyes, and skin.Reach Max, in partnership with RoperASW, surveyed a random sample of 1,015 American adults (18+) to explore various issues surrounding the care and appearance of teeth. “The survey results directly reflect Americans’ desire to seek the best dental care possible,” said Dr. Lana Rozenberg, owner of New York City’s Rozenberg Dental Day Spa. “This very trend was the inspiration for my dental spa. I work to make an ordinary trip to the dentist a pampering experience. The Reach Max campaign comes at a pivotal time in dentistry when Americans are seeking a better oral care experience.”Key survey findings include:• When it comes to grooming and looking our best, Americans-men and women to an equal degree-are most likely to say their teeth are a “top priority” (83%), beating out hair, eyes, skin, fingernails, and toenails.• Nearly half (41%) consider the quality of a person’s smile is absolutely essential to their “looking their best.”• There is a perception across the country that, compared to a few years ago, people are making more of an effort to make their teeth look their best (78%).• For most Americans (84%), it’s no surprise that less painful techniques would make a trip to the dentist more pleasurable. Specifically, a spa-like approach in dentistry would be a most welcome addition for nearly half of Americans (46%).• Half of Americans (48%) are unaware that even slight gum bleeding from brushing is almost always a sign of gum disease. Three in ten (30%) Americans occasionally notice gum bleeding when brushing their teeth.
