The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with Tequila Rose Distilling Co. of Weston, Mo., announced yesterday a voluntary recall of its Tequila Rose Strawberry Cream candle sets. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

About 60,000 units of this Valentine’s Day gift item were sold at licensed alcohol beverage retail stores nationwide from January 2007 through March 2007. It contains a pink martini glass gel candle printed with the words “Tequila Rose” and “Made in China” that can break while burning, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers. The firm has received three reports of glasses breaking while the candle was lit. No fires or injuries have been reported, says the CPSC in a statement to the press.

The CPSC suggests that consumers should immediately stop using the gel candle and contact the firm for instructions on how to get a free replacement candle. For additional information, call Tequila Rose Distilling at (800) 567-7303 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit the firm’s Web site at www.tequilarose.com.
