Tergitol 15-S Surfactants Named to CleanGredients Roster

Dow Polyglycols, Surfactants and Fluids, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, has announced that Tergitol 15-S-12, 15-S-12 (90%) and 15-S-15 specialty nonionic surfactants have qualified for listing on the CleanGredients online database of cleaning product ingredient chemicals.

According to Bartley Terrill, marketing manager for Dow Surfactants, “Tergitol 15-S surfactants are secondary alcohol ethoxylates (SAEs) offering a unique combination of excellent detergency, rapid wetting, and notable rinsability. The products are readily biodegradable as determined by the OECD 301 test and they are low in aquatic toxicity, which makes them good candidates for use in environmentally-friendly cleaning product formulations.”

According to Terrill, the combination of performance and economy available with Tergitol 15-S surfactants has led to their use as replacements for primary alcohol ethoxylates (PAEs), nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs), octylphenol ethoxylates (OPEs) and other general purpose surfactants.

These surfactant grades join several Ecosurf EH specialty ethoxylates and Triton surfactant products that earlier qualified for listing.
