Jessica Alba joined officials from the Mount Sinai Health System to formally open The Honest Company Ultra Clean Room. Part of Mount Sinai’s Children’s Environmental Health Center (CEHC), the state-of-the-art facility will measure—with greater sensitivity—the impact of chemicals in the environment on children’s health, according to The Honest Company.

Kenneth L. Davis, MD, CEO and president of the Mount Sinai Health System said the “new clean room will be an integral part of our Laboratory for Molecular Environmental Chemistry and further establishes Mount Sinai as a leader in the field of children’s environmental health.”

The Honest Company Ultra Clean Room is equipped with technology that significantly reduces the risk of sample contamination and allows for evaluation of chemicals at concentrations as low as parts per trillion. Work is already in action in the space; a novel “biomarker” was developed to determine prior environmental exposures in children, according to the company.
