The Latest Cosmetic Import Refusals

If a cosmetic offered for import does not appear to be in compliance with US law, it may be refused entry into this country, according to the US Food and Drug Administration. Every month, FDA issues a list of products that didn't make it on US shores—let alone in US stores—and this month's list includes products from Hungary, Germany and China.


For example, Icb Innovative Cosmetics Brands from Germany, was refused entry because the product “appears to contain a color additive which is unsafe within the meaning of Section 721(a) which renders it adulterated under Section 601(e).”


Similarly, products manufactured by A.Q. & Company, Pakistan, were denied entry because they appear “to contain a color additive which is unsafe within the meaning of Section 721(a) which renders it adulterated under Section 601(e).”


Products from Guangnzhou Colorite Cosmteic Ltd., China, were blocked at the border because: “it appears to contain a color additive which is unsafe within the meaning of Section 721(a) which renders it adulterated under Section 601(e).”
