Inter Parfums is confident that Montblanc International has the write stuff for a fragrance launch. The two have inked a worldwide fragrance license deal with Inter Parfums SA. The contract will last 10-and-a-half years, starting July 1. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“Through its leadership positions in writing instruments, watches and leather goods, promising growth outlook in women’s jewelery, its active presence in more than 70 countries, a network of more than 350 boutiques worldwide and its high standards of product design and quality, Montblanc offers growth potential for development in fragrances and ancillary products,” said Philippe Benacin, chairman and chief executive officer, Inter Parfums. “This partnership with the world-renowned more than 100-year-old luxury brand will further strengthen the Group’s prospects for continued expansion in the selective perfume market.”

The Montblanc license announcement is the second one in the last few months for Inter Parfums. In October 2009, the company signed a fragrance deal with Jimmy Choo. Inter Parfums is also expanding Burberry’s beauty reach into color cosmetics this June.

Previously, Procter & Gamble held the Montblanc fragrance license.
