Unilever Cosmetics International (UCI) announced law enforcement officials from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, arrested three individuals and seized approximately $150,000 of counterfeit fragrance products. This action was triggered by information provided by Estee Lauder, sources said. The arrests occurred just a month after UCI’s multi-brand seizure in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Products involved include UCI’s cK One, cK Be and Escape, and Estee Lauder’s Pleasures.

UCI has requested the assistance of the U.S. Trade Office to encourage the government of Indonesia to more aggressively enforce anti-counterfeit legislation and protect the intellectual property rights of U.S. trademark owners. The company has not yet mentioned similar objectives for the United Arab Emirates.
