Unette Expands U.S. Headquarters

• Unette Corporation, a provider of single-use packaging and filling solutions for a range of industries, has relocated its U.S. headquarters from Wharton, NJ to a larger building in Randolph, NJ.
According to the company, the new facility encompasses 115,000 sq. ft. of environmentally friendly, energy-efficient manufacturing, warehousing and administrative space.
Unette also has two facilities in the UK.
“We are extremely excited about this opportunity,” said chief executive officer Joseph Hark.“Our expansion is a reflection of our employee’s commitment to outstanding customer service and their dedication to delivering superior solutions to some of the world’s largest companies.”

Alpha Packaging CompletesProgressive Plastics Purchase
• In its largest acquisition to date, Alpha Packaging hasacquired Progressive Plastics, Inc. Based in Cleveland, Progressive is a manufacturer and decorator of plastic bottles and containers primarily for the personal care, auto care and housewares markets.
Alpha Packaging is a blow molder of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polyethylene terepthalate (PET) bottles and jars for the personal care, pharmaceutical, nutritional supplement and niche food and beverage markets. In addition, Alpha’s Technigraph decorating division provides environmentally friendly container decorating services to leading personal care brands.
Irving Place Capital, a middle-market private equity firm, acquired Alpha in September 2010.
Dan Creston, Alpha’s executive vice president, corporate development, said, “Alpha’s growth strategy is to acquire successful companies whose product lines and customer contacts open up new opportunities for Alpha’s existing sales force. Progressive’s product lines greatly expand the number of products we can take to the market.”
“The opportunity for cross-selling stock products into both companies’ existing customers will provide some immediate sales opportunities and also help Alpha move toward our long-term growth objective,” he added.
Progressive’s plant will begin operating as a branch of Alpha effective immediately. Operations in the Cleveland plant will continue to be run by Progressive executives.P&M Corporate Finance of Southfield, MI served as financial advisor in the transaction.

Maesa Giftwraps Sephora,Victoria’s Secret for Holidays
• Sephora and Victoria’s Secret looked to Maesa Packaging to develop gift boxes and bags for Holiday 2010.
According to the packaging supplier, Sephora stayed true to its brand by adorning the deep red gift packaging with its name and “flame” logo hot stamped in decadent silver. Two box options, three matching bags and a gift card holder were available at Sephora stores in Europe and Asia.
Maesa also manufactured 35 different set boxes, folding cartons and tins for Victoria’s Secret Beauty’s holiday gift collection. Each set was handcrafted and adorned with silkscreened glitter, according to the company.
