The International Group (IGI) has introduced a new ingredient for the personal care industry called Sebapet. Sebapet is a natural vegetable petrolatum replacement. This product utilizes a unique combination of vegetable oils which mimic the fatty acid and esters found in natural skin sebum. Sebapet also uses a natural gelling technology which has not been incorporated into a petrolatum replacement before. This technology enables Sebapet to maintain its integrity when used in emulsion systems. To enhance the self life of the product a natural antioxidant has also been chosen. Sebapet has significantly different esthetics than conventional petrolatums but still maintains occlusive properties.Sebapet will find applications in creams, lotions, lip care products, body washes and may other applications where petrolatum properties are required but a natural product is necessary.
