A new survey of women over the age of 50 reported many experiencing notable changes in the condition of their skin after menopause – including increased dryness, increased wrinkles and a sagging neck, according to The Effects of Menopause on the Skin sponsored by Vichy Laboratoires, a division of L’Oreal Active Cosmetics.
Of the women polled, 53% reported that the most common issue they faced after entering menopause was dry skin, followed closely by an increase in wrinkles and a sagging neck. Also, 67% of women reported that entering menopause caused them to change their beauty routine in ways such as purchasing new skin care and color cosmetic products to address these issues.
“These survey findings strongly support our own clinical research,” says Sarah De Joybert, vice president of marketing for Vichy Laboratoires, noting that clinical studies reveal that 40 million women over the age of 50 experience accelerated skin sagging caused by menopause. “We drew our inspiration from our 30 years of research on tissue engineering in creating the Vichy Neovadol GF collection to specifically address the needs of women experiencing the effects of hormonal slowdown due to menopause.”
Vichy has selected Pro-Xylane, known to help refurbish and anchor skin substance, and Proteic GF, to stimulate the synthesis of growth factors at the dermis and epidermis levels, as key ingredients. This U.S. patented combination has been shown to address sagging skin and the loss of density and moisture to reconstruct skin tissues to a denser quality in only one month, revealing a redefined jaw line, firmer neck and smoother lines.
