Big hair is big, and so is that sleek sophisticated look. Silicone technology from Dow Corning (Booth 500) helps formulators craft those “ideal for me” products today’s consumers crave, whatever their style choice.

While sensory testing has proven that certain silicones can make hair appear fuller, Dow Corning’s new image-analysis system quantifies the effect of select Dow Corning silicones on hair volume.

Several silicone materials have been evaluated in rinse-off formulations, and they were found to provide significant volume increase as well as demonstrated conditioning and other benefits, according to Kristen Scheibert-Mizell, Dow Corning Life Sciences North American marketing leader. As a result, chemists can achieve significant volume increase and conditioning from a single source, such as silicone materials designed for intensive conditioning and heat protection (Dow Coring 5-7113) or color protection (Dow Corning 949), or medium conditioning and shine (Dow Corning CE-8170).

“This makes the choice simple,” Scheibert-Mizell told Happi during an interview on the NYSCC Suppliers’ Day show floor.
