The Estée Lauder Companies, L’Oréal and Ecolab are among the beauty, household and personal care companies that have been recognized by global environmental non-profit CDP as a leader on corporate climate action by achieving the highest score of A for its climate change disclosure. The A climate list also included: Beiersdorf, Colgate-Palmolive, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, Kao Corp. and Kose Corp—all of which can be found in the annual Happi’s Top 50 or Internatioanal Top 30 reports. Estée Lauder moved up from its A- score in 2019. This achievement is a testament to rapid progress made this year against the company’s 2020 climate goals, including achieving Net Zero carbon emissions and 100% renewable electricity globally for its direct operations, and setting science-based targets for its value chain, according to the company. “Climate change is one of the most important issues facing our communities around the world. The Estée Lauder Companies is committed to partnering with our employees, consumers and business partners to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy by reducing our carbon footprint and investing in green energy solutions,” said Fabrizio Freda, president and CEO, The Estée Lauder Companies. “Our continued focus on environmental disclosure and transparency, as well as our setting of new science-based targets, will deepen the impact of our efforts to combat climate change in this critical decade for the planet. As a global corporate citizen committed to climate action, The Estée Lauder Companies is incredibly honored to see its efforts recognized in CDP’s Climate A List.” L'Oréal Chairman and CEO Jean-Paul Agon noted that this triple A score is a recognition of L'Oréal's longstanding commitment to sustainability and the tremendous work carried out by L'Oréal employees around the world, along with suppliers and partners. L'Oréal was the only company to recieve a AAA score for the fifth year in a row. “This triple A score is a recognition of our longstanding commitment to sustainability and the tremendous work carried out by our employees around the world, and together with our suppliers and partners. For the first time this year, ten companies have made it onto the Triple A List. This is worth celebrating,” said Agon. “An increasing number of companies are now involved in this powerful initiative. They are all doing inspirational work for sustainable development and showing leadership in addressing the massive threats that our world is facing. Sustainability is not a matter of competition: it’s a collective responsibility that we must take very seriously. Together, we make a difference.” Suppliers to the beauty, household and personal care space that made the A list included Firmenich, Symrise, Ajinomoto, BASF, Givaudan and IFF.
