Procter & Gamble Co., Cincinnati, OH, is said to be in talks to buy Allianz AG’s 43.6% stake in Beiersdorf AG, the maker of Nivea products, according to The Financial Times.

Citing unspecified industry sources, the report said P&G had approached Allianz, and that an offer would follow within the next few days. Allianz’s stake is valued at about $3 billion, according to the report.

Coffee maker Tchibo Holdings AG, which holds a 30% stake, is already preparing a response to the bid, and might choose to buy out Allianz and float part of Beiersdorf on the stock market, The Financial Times reported. However, Tchibo expects P&G will be able to outbid it.
