Yes To Carrots, The Environmental Media Association and actress Emmanuelle Chriqui have launched the “Yes To Carrots Garden Challenge” for public schools nationwide.

The winning school will receive a $5,000 grant from the Yes To Carrots Seed Fund as well as a year’s worth of supplies from Kellogg Garden Products.

“At Yes To Carrots we’re always striving to find new ways to improve the lives of our most important members of society–children,” said Ido Leffler, Yes To Carrots co-founder. “I am thrilled to launch the first Yes To Carrots Garden Challenge. With amazing support, we hope this contest encourages more schools to teach kids that it’s fun to get their hands dirty and grow their own fruits and vegetables!”

Public schools (K-8) may enter the contest by submitting a video or written essay on the program website by May 20, expressing why they think a garden would be a positive addition to their school. Judges include Chriqui, Rosario Dawson, Amy Smart, Carter Oosterhouse and Leffler.

Star of HBO’s “Entourage,” Chriqui, will represent the school as its Garden Ambassador for the year.
