Dr. Marisa Garshick Digs Into 2023’s Hottest Skin Care Launches

When it comes to skincare, Dr. Marisa Garshick has seen myriad launches over her career as board-certified dermatologist serving patients throughout Manhattan, New York and Englewood, NJ at MDCS Dermatology: Medical Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery. She’s also an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Cornell – New York Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Garshick is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the Women’s Dermatologic Society.

We asked Dr. Garshick to dig into some hottest skincare products for 2023 and what ingredients fuels them. Here’s her take:

Vichy Mineral 89 72H Fragrance-Free Moisturizing Cream

MG: This moisturizing cream from a Happi Top 30 company combines hyaluronic acid, mineral-rich Vichy Volcanic Water, vitamins B3 and E, and squalene to nourish the skin and boost moisture while also supporting the skin barrier. This is especially important right now as there is increased attention to barrier health. It is lightweight and absorbs into the skin easily, making it a good option for all skin types including those with sensitive skin.

Medik8 Crystal Retinal Eye Cream

MG: Using retinaldehyde, this helps to address fine lines and wrinkles in the under-eye area. It can be used in the evenings and is best to introduce gradually to minimize irritation. It also contains ceramides to support the skin barrier. Available in three different strengths, there is an option for everyone, including those with sensitive skin. It uses a twin-encapsulation delivery system which helps to produce an ultra-slow release so it is gentle on the skin.

Charlotte Tilbury Body Cream

MG: This body cream works to hydrate, smooth and firm the skin. It contains caffeine and hyaluronic acid improving the overall appearance of the skin. It is important to remember to care for the body as well, and this cream can help the skin appear firmer while also reducing the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Body Cream

The Ordinary Buffet and Copper Peptides

MG: Targeting signs of skin aging, this incorporates peptides, amino acids and hyaluronic acid to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and improve overall elasticity, smoothness and firmness, while also protecting against free radical damage through the use of copper peptides.

SkinBetter Science Mystro Active Balance Serum

MG: Using the PATH technology, incorporating plant-based adaptogens and antioxidants, this serum works to improve the overall appearance of the skin by targeting redness, texture, & pigmentation. It can be applied twice daily to help smooth the skin.

CosRx Advanced 96 Snail Mucin Power Essence

MG: This essence incorporates the snail secretion filtrate and works to improve overall texture while helping to boost hydration. It can be applied after cleansing and prior to serums and moisturizing.
