Estée Lauder Companies and MAC Partner to Host Spelman College’s Convocation

Executives at The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) shared career readiness and brand innovation insights with over 170 students.

On Feb. 20, The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC), in partnership with MAC Cosmetics and the Spelman Pathways Program, hosted Spelman College’s Convocation.

ELC employees and Spelman alumnae discussed their careers and how they drive change.
 
The lecture series for freshman students featured prominent scholars and professionals across industries and sectors. This was the first time ELC hosted Spelman College’s Convocation.

The Convocation consisted of on-campus events that brought Spelman alumnae within ELC together with more than 170 current students to discuss career readiness strategies and beauty industry insights, plus lead a makeup application masterclass.
 
The Convocation opened with remarks by Mallory Butts, a Spelman student who interned during the summer at ELC, followed by a panel discussion, “Let’s Talk Beauty Presents: Crafting Your Career in the Beauty Industry.” This featured ELC Spelman alumnae Monique Davis, vice president, local & cultural innovation; Jasmin Courtney, vice president, global brand growth intelligence & marketing strategy, MAC; Asha Harris, executive director, global marketing, Aveda; and LaTranda Irons, executive director, organizational effectiveness, North America.
 
Panelists discussed their career journeys and how they drive industry transformation, champion inclusion and equity, and foster a sense of belonging within their teams. The importance of representation, owning one’s voice and innovative product offerings for diverse consumer needs were key themes throughout the convocation.

London Fashion Week Inspires MAC Masterclass 

The day concluded with a MAC masterclass presented by Romero Jennings, director, makeup artistry, at MAC. Romero demonstrated artistry techniques inspired by London Fashion Week for all skin types and tones. Featured products included MAC’s Locked Kiss Ink 24Hr Lipstick and Chestnut Lip Liner.
