For the second year in a row, CCL Plastic Packaging Inc., a division of CCL Industries, received the Ted Klein Tube of the Year award. The honor was presented at the Tube Council’s annual meeting. The Unilever/Best Foods Skippy Squeez’ It peanut butter tube has a five-layer structure and ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) barrier.
“The Skippy tube is a great example of what’s possible through customization,” said Jim Cooper, CCL Plastic Packaging’s vice president of sales and marketing.
CCL was also honored with the Dentifrice Tube of the Year award for Burt’s Bees Children’s toothpaste, which utilizes Post-Consumer Resin (PCR) packaging. The entire package, including both tube and closure, represents the first fully commercialized tube and tube closure combination made with PCR, executives said.
