Croda Beauty Actives has renewed the Croda- Le Perray site membership to the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT), an international nonprofit organization that promotes sourcing with respect for people and biodiversity.

The renewal highlighted significant progress made by the company since its initial membership review in 2020.

“We are very proud to be working with Croda Beauty Actives (Croda – Le Perray site) as members of UEBT since 2020,” said Rik Kutsch Lojenga, executive director of UEBT. “UEBT member companies make commitments to source their ingredients with respect for all people and biodiversity. Renewal of their UEBT membership means that the company has shown continuous improvement and has set meaningful targets for ethical sourcing. The team is working in a positive way and in alignment with our UEBT vision – to contribute to a world in which all people and biodiversity thrive. Our membership team has recently approved a new three-year workplan the company has developed. This plan will guide the company’s work on continuing to improve their ethical sourcing systems in the next three years.”

Sustainable Sourcing Commitments

Croda Beauty Actives says it has demonstrated a concrete commitment to implementing ethical sourcing principles. The company trained an internal team in 2021 on the use of the UEBT’s “Full Field Checklist,” enhancing its capabilities in assessing supply chains. Since then, some supply chains, including four o’clock, beech and birch sap, have been assessed by UEBT and an improvement plan is in place with more planned in the coming months.

Some of the company’s commitments include the establishment of an ethical sourcing system, including internal assessments of suppliers and supply chains; development of prioritization tools and monitoring of supply chain action plans; and internal training on UEBT standards and support for producers.

In terms of focus on Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS), the company has achieved integration of ABS principles into internal processes; awareness-raising and training for staff at all levels of the company; and internal assessment of all our new developments and new sourcing regarding ABS obligations.
