Evonik’s Natural Alternative to Synthetic Hair Bond Multipliers

During the hair care innovations session on December 13, Eric Ginsburg, applied innovation manager for active ingredients, will present PlexCYS, a natural and effective alternative to synthetic hair bond multipliers, Si-Cys-complex.

Hair treatments often lead to damage of the cuticle and weakness in the internal bonds that keep hair strands strong and healthy. Specifically, hair shaft integrity is compromised when the strong disulfides bonds among the keratin fibrils are broken and converted into -SH groups, whether by chemicals, thermal, or mechanical factors. While most solutions available rely on synthetic molecules, PlexCYS offers a natural alternative to reestablish healthy s-s bonds to repair damaged hair and prevent further damage, according to Evonik.
