Former Lauder Executive Janet Cook Passes

She rose from behind the Clinique counter at a Connecticut department store to president of North America, Estée Lauder Inc.

Janet Cook, a former Estée Lauder Companies executive, passed last month at her home in Florida after a sudden illness. She was 77.

Cook began her career in beauty as a Clinique consultant in Connecticut and moved up the ranks at the corporate level. In 2002 she was appointed to the then newly-created position of president, North America, Estee Lauder Inc., a role that put in her in charge of all brand activities in Canada, the US and Puerto Rico, as reported by Happi.

Cook obtained her MBA from Harvard University while working for ELC.

According to her obituary, after retiring in 2004 from Estée Lauder Companies, she and her late husband Jon moved to St. Petersburg, FL where she helped developed a “young Aveda Florida team” and the Be Aveda Institutes of Florida.

Cook also helped raise considerable funds for Breast Cancer Research Fund and Clean Water Foundation.
