Graham Barker, Past SCC President, Dies at 90

Long-time industry expert and holder of several patents.

Long-time cosmetic industry expert Graham Barker died on Oct. 6. He was 90. Barker served the industry in a variety of positions, most notably as president of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. During his career, he earned many patents and awards, and was a sought-after author for a number of industry publications.

Barker was a graduate of City College of New York where he earned his B.S. degree in Chemistry, and was also a graduate of Brooklyn College where he earned his Master’s Degree in Chemistry. After a long career in the chemical industry, Graham began a consultant company known as Granum, Inc. in Fair Lawn.

He is survived by his wife Muriel (nee Neider) Barker, his children Susan L. Barker and Mitchell A. Barker and his wife Amelia, grandchildren Joshua, Theodore, Hannah, and Danielle, and brother Irving and his wife Florence.
