Kyowa Hakko Offers New Skin Care Ingredient

Lumistor promotes the skin's moisture retention capability.

Formulators looking to create cosmetics that help promote skin’s moisture retention capability can turn to Lumistor (N-acety-l-hydroxyproline), a fermentation based on L-hydroxyproline amino acid derivatives from Kyowa Hakko USA (Booth No. 518). Lumistor, which restores the vibrancy, strength and softness of skin, is an odorless, white crystalline powder. It is soluble in water, more than 5% soluble in 70% ethanol and more than 5% soluble in 30% BG solution. Stable at a temperature below 180°C, it has good stability with other actives and is recommend for use in skin and hair care as well as nail treatments, makeup, lip care products, and bath and body washes.

For oily and sensitive skin applications, Kyowa Hakko offers new Pandoxine P, a pro form of pyridoxine (vitamin B6). Due to its stability, this white to light yellow ingredient is soluble in water, exhibits good stability under sunlight and thermo, good stability at pH range of 6.5-8 and stability with other vitamins. Its suggested use level is 0.5% -3% in skin and hair care, according to the company.
