Lush Rushes To Aid California with Flame Fighters Soap Project

Funds will support grassroots and community groups.

In response to the wildfires ravaging Los Angeles, Lush is shifting the launch of a recent fundraising product, Flame Fighters Soap, which will divert funds from its sales across the US to people and animals that have been impacted throughout the community.

Seventy-five percent of the sales price from each bar of soap sold across the US will be donated towards emergency aid assistance to humans and animals impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires. Some funds will also support grassroots and community groups who campaign on the root causes of these issues and who take action across the country to mitigate the impact of disasters caused by the climate crisis.

Flame Fighters to the Rescue

Lush launched Flame Fighters, a fire truck shaped soap, throughout the UK and parts of EU in November to raise money for indigenous and community-led volunteer fire brigades in the Amazon.

While Lush North America was due to launch a limited run of this product last week, with the surge of damage caused by the fires in California, Lush will now be upping quantities in the US, with funds donated towards emergency aid to Los Angeles.

Flame Fighters soap ($10) is available to purchase online and will be launching in all US shops throughout January. With 17 shops across LA, Lush will continue responding to the crisis with a locally-informed, grassroots and robust plan, brand officials said.

Lush will also be providing over 15,000 individual soaps, shower gels, body moisturizers and other hygiene products for distribution by aid groups through its Community Donations program. In response to the needs of impacted communities, such as Altadena, product donations will be inclusive of those for textured hair.

Lush is also donating 4,000 safety facemasks and 6,000 pairs of socks, which will be distributed to volunteer groups.
