US Patent No. 11,857,667 B2 (Tiffany Florence, Michelle Hines, David Gan); Mary Kay Inc. has patented a facial cleansing composition used to treat sensitive or inflamed skin. It is comprised of Linum usitatissimum (common flax) seed extract; hydrolyzed algin; glycerin; cetyl alcohol; Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil; xanthan gum; bisabolol; and phenoxyethanol.

In this composition, hydrolyzed algin reduces TNF-alpha expression in the skin, according to the patent file.
